If you're looking to store your blueprints, drawings, or posters on the wall, try a Vis-i-Rack. They are made of steel, very sturdy, mounts to your wall and holds multiple rolled up drawings. We have also learned that they work great as yoga mat storage wall racks, as well as in woodworking shops for holding various smaller pieces of wood for storing or as a painting or staining drying rack for wood projects. These are very versatile and well made storage products.

Here's a thought for anyone in the engineering, art, design world or really just anyone in the world it applies to. You really can design your life the way you want. Your life is like an oil painting and you hold the brush. Or your life is like a structure that's to be built, and you hold the tools that create the blueprints.

If you want to make a quick, straight, and accurate cut when cutting paper or card stock, try a Rotary Paper Cutter. They make quick work by laying your sheet along the tables alignment rail, then putting the line you want to cut under the cutter, and then rolling the cutter to the other end of the rail and your cut is quick and clean. These cutters work great for cutting photographs straight, scrapbooking, and almost any art project that requires paper to be cut quickly and straight.

Vyco Drafting Board Cover is one of the nicest things you can do for your drafting table, art table, or drawing board. Vyco and Borco are some of the most well-known names for drafting board cover material. Drafting Board Cover installs easily, its trimmed with scissors to fit your board, it's attached along the top edge using double-sided tape and lays on your table top. Its soft to the touch but hard enough and makes a very nice nearly perfect surface for drawing, drafting, and any art work.

If you have a drafting table or art table, and don't have a drawing board cover already, you should strongly consider using one. They protect your board, but more importantly provide a very smooth and solid surface to draw on. Easily trimmed and installed using double-sided tape, drawing board covers are an excellent way to perform art, drawing, sketching, or drafting.

Seymour Paints makes Utility Marking Paint. For those that know what utility marking paint is, then you know this is one of the best brands of marking paint available. For those that don't know what utility marking paint is, it's like a regular can of spray paint yet it's made with a special nozzle so that it sprays while held upside down while marking manhole tops, sewer lines, valve boxes, water lines, electrical lines and more. It's also great for construction stake-out where surveyors mark where structures such as curb and gutter, manholes, building footers and corners, will be built. Marking paint is also made so that it dries super fast and washes off after a few months in the weather. It is not as permanent as regular spray paint. Sold by the case, it's best to stock up and maybe buy more than you think you'll need since once you find a use for it, you'll use it often.

Upside Down Inverted Marking Paint is one of the most useful things a utility worker can use while he/she locates and marks underground utilities. Contractors also use it for construction layout and things like location of driveways prior to install and so on. Regular spray paint doesn't work since it clogs when held upside down while spraying. Inverted spray paint has a nozzle thats intended to spray while held upside down and not clog.

If you're looking for Blueprint Drawing Hanging Clamps, you've found the right place. Basically speaking, drawing clamps (aka blueprint clamps) are aluminum clamps made out of two pieces of aluminum that clamp a set of construction documents or drawings and hold them vertical, and not flat. The clamps then hang from hangers that are part of a blueprint storage system usually in the form of a rolling blueprint stand or rack, but sometimes can be an enclosed metal cabinet. Either way, the clamps are being held and the drawings are being held by the clamps which best organizes your drawings or blueprints for quick and easy retrieval.

Wild thought or not so wild thought? One day you may be able to have a delivery made to your GPS location ordering on your Mobile Device. The idea would be you place the order online using your Mobile Device (by then we will probably just call everything a "Device" and no longer use the term "PC" or "Tablet" or "Smart Phone). Once the order is placed you would decide if you want your order shipped to a location, or delivered to you via drone to your GPS location. Imagine ordering a tool on a construction site and within hours you'd receive the delivery by drone. While EngineerSupply doesn't deliver by drone (yet) but it is an interesting thought to say the least when you consider the logistics and possibilities of mobile commerce and distribution. Or, you're in the desert on a hiking trip and run out of water, so you order two bottled waters and a drone delivers them to your GPS location even if you've changed location and hiked further since you placed your order.

If you want to measure distance accurately and quickly, try a Laser Measure Tool. These tools are amazing and most people want one at the very first sight of seeing one work. You simply point and push a button and you'll see a red laser dot where you want to measure to. The measurement is recorded in the units memory and on it's LCD screen. Depending on features and how much you want to spend, laser distance measuring tools can go from super simple (think Bosch GLM 15) all the way to super complex (Leica Disto D810). The Bosch GLM 15 only records several distances and has almost no other features than being small and easy to carry and extremely affordable. Then you have the full-blown features of the Leica Disto D810 that can measure things like the dimensions of a window on the 4th story of a building, or the height of a tree, and even interface with a bluetooth device to transfer measurements. Of course theres models of laser measures that fall somewhere in between the starter and the professional models, you just have to figure out which features are important to you and how much you want to budget.

Here's a picture of a used drafting table. EngineerSupply does not sell any used products at all ever, but this photo of a used one I am using to explain how parallel straightedges and drafting tables work together. I thought someone might want to see the Parallel Straightedge that’s mounted on this one. This is a very WIDE drafting table and the straightedge the person bought isn’t same width but it works as you can see in the photo. Also, at the bottom edge there's a Spiroll drawing protector, which is a product we used to sell before Spiroll went out of business years ago. Named the "Spiroliner" made by Spiroll was an aluminum tube that had a slit in the topside and drawings would roll up inside the tube so you could work on the top of large drawings without having to lean over, and also your belly wouldn’t press or crease the drawing if it was hanging off the edge of the desk. Anyway, little education of drafting tables, parallel straightedges, and spiroll drawing protectors.

construction job site heater. We sell TPI brand heaters and fans as they are a USA-based manufacturer and produce high-quality products that are built to last the rigors of a daily use within the construction field. With electric space heaters you don't have to worry about running out of fuel and they are much lighter in weight than fuel powered heaters. Many models have wheels which make them easily movable in the event they are in someones way on the job site. These work great when heating or drying out basements and spaces before the permanent heating system is installed. Get prepared now before winter arrives and consider ordering one or more heaters for your crews.

When I started working years ago, my first few jobs were fork lift operator in a warehouse, an auto mechanic, and a few other jobs before landing a position with a local Land Surveyor as an Instrument Man. That's when things to me started to make sense. For some reason I was very interested in location and mapping the world around me. From there it took me into the world of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Utility Mapping while working with a large University Campus and their vast network of underground utilities such as steam tunnels, water lines, sewer and communications as well as chilled water lines used for cooling large indoor spaces.
The one thing I was taught early on was to answer questions BEFORE they are asked whenever it made sense to do so. For example, a supervisor of mine asked a question "Who can we ask about the operation of a Sewage Treatment Plant in that area?" , (he was asking an operator question that a design Engineer would not normally know the answer to). Keep in mind this was before the Internet was operational or even invented. An Engineer I worked with was able to find a yellow pages book for that area, get in touch with 2 operators in the area we were designing for and got the names and phone numbers for 2 different STP Operators. He went back to his supervisor with the names of the operators, their phone numbers, the name of the company's they worked for, and he even took it a step further. Knowing we were designing a clarifier I called a local construction company that had built Sewage Treatment Plants before and got the names fo the company's that actually made the clarifier equipment and he provided all that information to his supervisor. The Engineer went above further ahead and gathered information knowing our supervisor would need more information. If he didn't, it was wasted time, but the chances of it saving time while you're into it made sense and paid off.
Learning from the Engineer I worked with years ago, and now managing EngineerSupply, I see this with our ability to answer our customer service questions before they are asked. For example, someone contacts us asking if we have an interior laser level. We respond with not just a "yes we do", but an email stating yes, we have interior laser levels, and point them out, name the various brands of laser levels, and show prices. We mention that some are powered with alkaline batteries and some have rechargeable battery packs and that many times the various models will only do one or other other and not interchangeable between alkaline and rechargeable. Working this way by going a step further by answering questions before they are asked is extremely helpful and efficient. I always think of the worst case scenario where someone emails us asking if we have (for example) a T-Square for drafting. Our customer service replies with "yes we have those". Then the customer replies, "what do they cost?", then our customer service replies "they range from $12 to $30". Then the customer replies to that asking "what length are they?" and our person replies "we have various lengths" and the customer replies "do you have a 24" model?" and it goes on and on back and forth until someone either gives up or 2 days have passed. We train with this scenario as an example and try to always answer questions before they are asked. In this example the customer would ask "Do you have T-Square for Drafting?", our reply should be something like this; "Yes, we do have T-Squares for Drafting. We have various lengths to choose from. If you let me know the length of the one you're looking for I can email you a link to the product page. They vary in length and price and here is the link to our page that shows all the drafting t-squares we sell."

|Mayline C-File 5 Drawer Model|
If you're wanting to store large documents like Blueprints, Maps, and Artwork in a safe, protected, flat way, then steel flat files are the solution. Basically speaking, steel flat files are large metal cabinets made with thin height drawers for storing large flat documents. The basic sizes flat files come in are 24" x 36" and 36" x 48" and each size is made in either a 5 or 10 drawer model. Flat file cabinets can be stacked a maximum 3 cabinets high although most people stack 2 cabinets on a 4" base, and only 1 cabinet on top of the 20" high base. And, if you want to raise the cabinets a 4" base is sold separately, and a high base is even higher raising the height to 20" off the floor. Label holders are on the front of each drawer which allows you to label and identify what is stored in each drawer.

Here at EngineerSupply we know we're selling products to Engineers, Architects, Land Surveyors, and Builders. The professionals we sell to may be the most informed and educated people around when it comes to selling products to them and providing the level of service they require and if you ask me, deserve. I suppose if we were selling products to the general public, things such as automobiles, we could relax and just process the orders knowing that our customers ranged from uneducated and needy all the way to the affluent wealthy with many not knowing what to expect in regards to a high level of service. Knowing that we sell to professional people (we like to call them "people" instead of "customers" whenever possible) that know the products in many cases better than we do is something we understand and enjoy doing. We know their required level of service and their expectations, and the bottom line is, we deliver and have been doing so now for 16 years online. If you want proof, listen to our customers voice by reading their ratings and testimonials (sorry to horn toot a bit but we want you know that you're in good hands when shopping with EngineerSupply).
Check our ratings out on ShopperApproved and ResellerRatings, both of which are rating services that rate webstores.
