Its made to store and archive many documents (such as blueprints, maps, or drawings) in a small area of floor space. The Safco Masterfile basically works like this- you buy carrier strips that attach to the hanging edge of your document and the carrier strip has holes in it for the Masterfiles way of hanging and holding the documents. The Safco Masterfile has large bars (that look like spikes) that you slide the documents onto (actually the carrier strip is what slides onto the bars and the documents are attached to the carrier strips).
